Man. I got schooled this week. In short order, I sped through learning:
- Final Cut Pro
- Final Cut Pro is amazing. I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without using it. Getting the scratch disks set up and having enough RAM was an issue at first, but it’s really sweet to use.
- Sound Booth CS4
- Excellent multitrack editor. A little confusing right off but once I got the hang of it, I was set. The audio on the demo is, well,… not excellent. But that’s my fault for not being an audio guy.
- Motion
- Motion is like after effects with training wheels. Totally useable, but lacking in the “Hey let’s write some scripting to tweak this effect” department. One really nice thing about motion is that the comps will import into FCP, so you get to skip the “render to file” step.
- Soundtrack Pro
- Ow. My brain. Soundtrack Pro has the wonderful Apple super power to be able to load a metric TON of effects and loops from the stock Apple libraries, but MAN is it confusing. Not your Daddy’s Garage Band. I need to take a course.
The new Demo has at least snippets of everything I’ve worked on in the past two years. The Star Trek Phase II VFX work isn’t on there, but it’s a pretty small chunk.
