My Macro Morning

One of the cool things about living here in Pacific Grove is the wild forests.  Kenna and I took a walk with the dogs yesterday and I brought my macro lens with a flash.  It’s really hard to get the lighting correct and I’m realizing I need to hold the camera a LOT more still.  Nonetheless, I think these turned out pretty cool.  I love looking at these after I get back to the lab.  You see stuff on the big screen that you don’t catch when you’re out in the field.

Wonderful photos. Is the insect a beetle or a hymenopteran (ant) of some sort? The slug would make a wonderful creature in some future Star Wars film. Loved talking with you and Joe this morning.

Yeah! Thanks! I have to peel my eyeballs away from these computers every so often or I get all cranky.

Good talking with you too Grampa!

These are fantasic! Loving the pill bug (”land isopod”) and the moss. ( at least I think those sprouts are moss… maybe) You should see some of the bugs I find at my school! Not to mention all the banana slugs. After it rains, they’re everywhere.

I still haven’t been able to catch a Banana Slug (on film). They are, without a doubt, my favoritest land mollusc. Deb has been known to give them kisses. Eew.
