Windfarms – the new National Threat

So it seems the US Military is trying to stop the worlds largest wind farm from being constructed in Oregon.  They reason that the windmills will interfere with a radar system in Fossil, OR.
Well that’s bullshit.
I worked on radar in the Navy. If you get a repeatable false reflection down range, you can tune [...]

My iPad brings all the girls to the yard

OK.
Full day and a half of using my iPad and I can’t get it away from my teenage daughters – hence the snappy title.

Battery Life:

Absofuckinglutely unstoppable. I’ve had it on for the entire day today, playing movies, surfing the web – ooohhh… the web surfing… and drawing on it.
As of 8:15pm, battery is at [...]

Another take on Predator

Robert Rodrigues is releasing a new Predator movie called, strangely, Predators. I was never a fan of the sequels to the totally entertaining 1987 original, but this looks like a fun ride.

Dog Boy Reviews Avatar

Really excellent facial animation work here.  I’m not sure if this is an individual (if so, bravo!) or a studio trying for some kind of viral response.

More Panoramas

I took a walk down to the beach with my buddies Jason an Courtney a few months ago – just unloading the camera tonight.  Photoshop’s autostitch tool is amazing.
This is a seadragon viewer available from none other than Microsoft (click the full screen icon, it’s cool). Their R&D guys are also amazing. Gosh.. [...]

NBC UX #Fail

Me: home from a long day.
Deb and the Girls™: sitting in the living room watching some crappy chick flick.
Me: I think I’ll watch some olympics video on the NBC site…
NBC: You don’t have the right version of Silverlight.
Silverlight: Do you wanna?
Mac: Hey!  Are you sure?
Silverlight: Well?  Do you wanna?
Silverlight: Where do you want it?
Silverlight: Are [...]

Pano for iPhone

I found this cool little app for the iPhone the other day called Pano.  It’s really very good at capturing quick panoramas.
This is my morning at the Aquarium:

Get it at the App Store.

Evil Little Fish WIP

Working in Silo3D for a little bit today.  Such a great modeling tool…

Now with Fins!  Woo!

Dorking around in Maya today

I should be working on the Climate Change exhibit today, but after discussing a role-playing game concept with my buddy Erik, I got all inspired to work on a concept piece instead.  This is the ancestral home of the Chay-Nee People of the Apocalypse.
Modeled in Silo3D, textured and rendered in Maya, tweaked in Photoshop.

It’s been [...]

Repo Men

Not a remake of the trippy 80’s cult film.  Looks like a good ride film,… Jude Law as a muscleboy?  Really?
